Atingi is a digital learning platform developed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a global development organisation, designed to provide accessible training content across a wide range of subjects and regions.
Working in partnership with Type-C Productions, We Are Alive was tasked with defining the illustration, animation, and motion graphics approach for the platform’s Tourism and Hospitality content.
As part of the scope, we developed a comprehensive set of motion guidelines, along with two benchmark films that serve as reference points for other studios and suppliers producing content for the platform.
How do you create a visual system that can be used by multiple studios, across different regions, while maintaining consistency in quality, tone, and storytelling?
The content needed to be engaging and professional, while remaining simple enough to be applied by teams with varying levels of experience, often working under tight timelines.
At the same time, it had to work across cultures and languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.

A clear and flexible visual language
We developed a distinct illustration style that is simple, friendly, and easy to recognise.
Characters, environments, and visual elements were designed to support storytelling, while remaining efficient to produce and adapt.
Defined motion principles
The animation approach focuses on clarity and consistency.
Movement is purposeful and restrained, helping guide attention without overwhelming the viewer, and ensuring that different teams can apply it with ease.
Built for collaboration
The guidelines were created to be practical and easy to follow, enabling multiple studios and suppliers to contribute while maintaining a consistent look and feel across all content.
We developed a library of assets and templates that could be used out of the box, making the production of new videos efficient and straightforward.
Benchmark films as visual references
Alongside the guidelines, we produced two films that demonstrate how the system works in practice.
These serve as clear reference points for other teams, showing how to apply the visual language, pacing, and storytelling in real scenarios.
By developing a clear and scalable visual system, we enabled Atingi to produce consistent training and digital learning content across multiple teams and suppliers.
With detailed guidelines, ready-to-use assets, and benchmark films, new content can be developed efficiently without the need to redefine the approach, allowing internal teams to focus on the message rather than the execution.
